Emirates Golf Club- Faldo Course

There are two championship coursesat The Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.

The first was The Majils Course designed by American Karl Litten.

It opened for play in 1988 to general acclaim.

The second course (originally named Wadi) was also designed by Karl Litten. and opened for play in 1996.

It was redesigned by Nick Faldo and reopened as The Faldo Course in 2006.

With extensive lighting througout the course the Faldo Course offers golf day and night.

Sir Nick offers a course that demands accuracy both of the tee and for the approach.

Whilst the site is fundamentally flat, the course has relatively slim landing areas with lots of bunkering and water in play.

Playing to your handicap on the Faldo course is an achievement!

Notable Holes include:

- hole 2, a long par 3 with sand to carry off the tee, and a water hazard winding around the green. The Dubai city backdrop is imposing, to say the least..

- hole 6, a long dogleg par 4 with water very much in play down the right. It is not obvious off the tee where the hole goes!

- hole 7, another strong par 4 around a water hazard that demands all but the longest hitters pick a line and execute to reach dry ground.

- hole 8, a shorter par 3 with a raised green, all water carry, and a magnificent city backdrop (see pic top of page)

- hole 17, another strong par 3

- hole 18, a par 4 to test even the longest of players. It's a big finish

The Emirates Golf Club is well positioned near the heart of Dubai where the spectacular city buildings provide a dramatic backdrop.

The Majils course is famous for hosting the Dubai Deserrt Classic, and is on every golfer's playlist.

The Faldo course is an easy option for further golf at the Emirates Club with the course lighting allowing play well into the night
